RV Amenities and New Technology

Recreational vehicle (RV) camper trailers have some great amenities these days. If you haven’t checked out the newer models being released, you should. These technological advances improve both the ride and the comfort of traveling with an RV.

Here are a few of our favorites:

Solar Panels – Let’s face it, most of us are pretty fond of our gadgets and devices these days, but keeping them charged up at the campsite can be a challenge. To address this issue, some newer RVs carry solar panels designed for small-scale use. For example, they’ll generate enough power to charge your cell phone or keep your laptop humming. Some even have high output mono-crystalline solar charges you can affix to your roof, keeping your batteries charged at all times and helping you run your appliances.

Cable TV – Satellite – Antenna Output – These days you can use satellite, cable or antenna to get a TV signal. Newer RVs may have all of the outputs built right into the unit so you can use a combination of methods, depending on availability and preferences. For instance, cable television is a good option for people who travel to RV parks instead of more remote locations since a cable hookup is required in order to get reception.

You will normally not get as many channels as your personal portable satellite, but it’s better than nothing. For a list of campgrounds and if they have cable hookups, you can visit the campground directory at TrailerLifeDirectory.com.

Upgraded Air Conditioners and Furnaces – There are many options for AC/heaters for new RVs. Look at the latest in propane, electric and solar powered units. Dual air conditioners for the main living space and bedrooms are hot (so to speak) and so are portable electric space heaters, catalytic heaters and dehumidifier systems. Be sure to ask your dealer which system will work best for the unit and type of camping you’ll be doing.

Tankless Water Heaters – There are many benefits to getting an RV with a tankless water heater. It’s smaller and quieter, uses less propane, heats the water faster and you never run out of hot water.

Electronic Awning with LED lighting – Raise and lower your camper’s awning with ease with a powered awning with LED lights. With the built in LED lighting, the daytime fun can carry into the night-time without missing a beat.

Automatic leveling system – Leveling your RV is critical to the safety, comfort and proper operation of your camper and its appliances. An electronic leveling system takes the guesswork out of leveling your camper and speeds up the process considerably.

Dual-Axle Design – Getting a flat tire on your trailer is inconvenient and can be downright dangerous. With a dual-axle design, if you blow a tire you can keep towing until you get to the repair shop.
